PSILink(SM) Service for Internet access adds new features: Anonymous FTP
and support for high speed V.32 modems and alpha numeric pagers.
Reston, VA - December 9, 1991 - John T. Eldredge, Director of Sales and
Marketing, Performance Systems International, Inc. (PSI), today announced
new capabilities of the turnkey service package, PSILink. PSILink is
a simple service that allows the individual to take advantage of valuable
electronic resources without complicated or expensive computer hardware or
software. In addition to supporting global electronic mail to over 25 million
participants, PSILink now supports high speed V.32 modems and alpha numeric
pagers. Additionally, the moving of data files from hundreds of thousands
of Internet computers to an individual's computer through Anonymous File
Transfer Protocol (FTP) access can be done.
FTP-capable PSILink with unlimited usage is available now and costs the
same as the original service -- $19 per month for 1200 and 2400 baud access.
High speed access of 9600 baud/V.32 is also available now at only $29 per
month. Local dialup points are available in major cities throughout the
continental U.S. Included with either level of service is the necessary
software called, "PSILink, Personal Internet Access for the PC."
"Our customers also want simple access to the volumes of software and
information publicly available across the Internet," Eldredge commented,
"and with the dropping price for 9600 baud modems, making them more of a
consumer product, our service can perform even more effectively."
Other applications scheduled for release during the first quarter of 1992
include general FTP, USENET News and X.500, as well as a Macintosh platform.
Expected for release later in 1992 is mobile radio packet modem and network
support, which will be demonstrated at COMNET in January in Washington, D.C.
Geoffrey Goodfellow, President of Anterior Technology said, "we are pleased
to have PSI be the first commercial e-mail vendor that has implemented
RadioMail(TM) integration in their software package and wired e-mail service."
RadioMail(TM) is a wireless communication gateway service.
The PSILink software contains a Graphic User Interface (GUI) which provides
the same windows and easy to use menu-driven interface for all applications
whether at home, traveling or at work.
Additional on-line information about PSILink is available by sending e-mail
to psilink-info@psi.com. Sent to your mailbox is an automatic, computer
generated information response.
